What is the Hemisphere?

Hemisphere is a versatile and portable water monitor designed for firefighting applications that require high-flow water delivery in hard-to-reach areas. Unlike traditional portable monitors, Hemisphere does not rely on gravity for stability. Hemisphere has an abundance of mounting options, enabling it to be mounted on various surfaces and structures. This monitor can flow up to 500 GPM (2000 LPM) and offers unmatched flexibility, allowing fire crews to direct water streams exactly where they need them, even in confined or elevated spaces.

What Problems Does the Hemisphere solve?

  • Difficult-to-Reach Firefighting Areas: Fighting fires in confined or elevated areas often presents challenges for traditional portable monitors. Hemisphere provides a solution by allowing high-flow water to be delivered to areas that are otherwise inaccessible. Its adaptable mounting options, including I-beam clamps, hitch mounts, and tank lip clamps, make it easy to secure the monitor to various surfaces, giving firefighters the flexibility to tackle fires in hard-to-reach places such as staircases, industrial tanks, and handrails.
  • Limited Water Stream Control: Unlike standard monitors that have limited directional capabilities, Hemisphere allows for full 360-degree rotation and 80-degree water stream sweeps. This ensures that water can be directed in virtually any direction, providing precise control over firefighting efforts. Whether mounted on a handrail or vehicle, Hemisphere enables fire crews to maximize water placement accuracy.
  • Time-Consuming Setup and Transportation: Quick deployment is essential during fire emergencies. Hemisphere’s lightweight aluminum construction and built-in carrying handle make it fast and easy to transport and set up. The quick-attach mounting system and water-pressurized pins provide a secure fit while allowing for rapid attachment and detachment, ensuring minimal downtime during critical operations.

Key Features of the Hemisphere Portable Monitor

Quick-Attach Mounting System

The Hemisphere monitor’s quick-attach mounting system secures it to various surfaces with ease, offering a reliable hold and rapid setup in emergencies. The release knob ensures fast detachment when needed. However, for safety purposes, a pressurized chamber ensures the monitor stays secure when water is flowing. Flow Rate

The Hemisphere monitor offers a flow capacity of up to 500 GPM (2000 LPM), providing sufficient water flow for most firefighting scenarios. Its integrated stream straightener ensures that water is delivered with maximum reach and minimal turbulence, helping to control fires quickly and efficiently.

Full Hemisphere of Coverage

Hemisphere’s unique design allows for full 360-degree rotation of the main waterway when not flowing water, along with an 80-degree pivoting water stream. This enables firefighters to direct water flow in virtually any direction without repositioning the monitor. We refer to this as a “full hemisphere” of coverage.

Rotation Lock Release Levers

The Hemisphere monitor features rotation lock release levers on both sides, enabling 45-degree incremental rotation when not flowing. A pressurized chamber ensures the lock stays secure under flow, preventing unintended movement. Pulling the levers back toward the inlet releases the pin for smooth rotation, while automatic locking re-engages when the levers are released.

Patented Articulating Waterway

The Hemisphere monitor features a double ball pivot with a synchronizing mechanism, ensuring smooth, precise movement. Built with the same patented articulating waterway as the Flex™ and BlitzFire® monitors, it delivers proven performance on the fireground. The articulating knuckles allow for quick and effortless stream angle adjustments to adapt to any situation.

Double Ball Swivel & Lock Knob

Each pivot offers 40 degrees of rotation, providing a total sweep of 80 degrees. When unlocked, the double ball pivot moves freely for easy positioning. The lock knob allows you to adjust resistance as needed or tighten fully to hold the monitor in a fixed position.

Locking Bail-Type Handle

The Hemisphere’s locking bail-type handle ensures secure water flow control. The handle locks in place to prevent accidental discharge, providing precise control for starting and stopping water as needed. To operate, simply pull the handle lock knob before opening or closing the valve.

Half-Ball Valve

The half-ball valve design ensures a high flow rate while minimizing friction loss, delivering efficient performance under demanding conditions.

Dual Crank Handles

The Hemisphere’s dual crank handles provide precise control of the water stream from any mounting position, ensuring adaptability no matter where the monitor is deployed.

Built-In Carry Handle

The Hemisphere features a built-in carry handle, making it easy to transport and quickly position for deployment.

Hemisphere Mounting Options

The portable Hemisphere monitor offers unparalleled versatility with its secure mounting options. It can be attached to fixed mounts or a durable backbone that clamps to stationary objects, with each backbone supporting a single monitor. Featuring up to 42 pin positions, the Hemisphere mounting backbone allows precise placement for optimal performance.

Constructed from hard-coat anodized aluminum and stainless steel, the clamps are built for durability and flexibility, enabling quick, tool-free attachment to various surfaces, including I-beams, tank lips, industrial scaffolding, and round or irregular shapes. With standard 2-inch hitch compatibility, the system ensures reliable deployment in challenging or unconventional locations, delivering critical water coverage where it’s needed most.
