How to Install a Wireless Remote Kit

Installing a wireless remote kit allows your TFT electric monitor to operate remotely using a wireless handheld. This guide walks you through safe installation of the radio board and antenna, and includes linking procedures for both standard and display-equipped wireless remotes.

Part 1: Wireless Kit Installation

Tools & Materials Needed:

  • 3mm socket head driver
  • 17mm and 18mm wrenches
  • Blue Loctite
  • Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)
  • Radio kit contents:
    • Antenna (900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, or 920 MHz)
    • Radio board and adapter
    • Locking nut

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Power Down the Monitor
    • Disconnect power at the Deutsch plug.
    • Confirm the green LED is off.
  2. Remove the Lid
    • Unscrew the lid (screws are retained).
    • Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable by lifting the two side latches.
  3. Remove the Communication Board
    • Unplug the communication connector.
    • Wiggle the board out—it’s a tension fit.
  4. Install the Antenna
    • Remove the existing plug (17mm outside, 18mm inside).
    • Insert the antenna through the hex-shaped receptacle.
    • Ensure the o-ring is seated properly to prevent leaks.
    • Apply blue Loctite, install the locking nut, and snug it down.
  5. Attach the Radio Board
    • Align the radio board with the white outline on the back of the communication board.
    • Press gently until fully seated.
    • Connect the antenna wire (threaded or press-fit depending on type).
  6. Reinstall Communication Board
    • Insert and seat the board with the coax facing rearward.
    • Reconnect the communication plug.
    • Tuck wires safely out of the way.
  7. Reconnect the Lid
    • Reconnect the ribbon cable (dark green contact side faces the board).
    • Lay the cable flat, reseat the lid, and secure the screws in a crisscross pattern.

Part 2: Link the Wireless Remote (Standard and Display)

Standard Wireless Remote:

  1. Power On Both Devices
  2. Enter Learn Mode (Remote)
    • Hold Left + Right buttons for ~5 seconds → add Up.
    • Release all when red lights blink.
  3. Enter Learn Mode (Monitor)
    • Do the same button sequence on the monitor.
    • Wait for lights to stop flashing.
  4. Exit Teach Mode
    • Press the Down button once.
    • Power cycle both units.

If the link fails, reset the radio board:

  • Hold Down while powering on to clear previous data.

Display Wireless Remote:

  1. Power On Both Devices
  2. Enter Learn Mode (Remote with Display)
    • Hold the button under Menu until screen changes.
    • Tap Menu to find RFID Learn, then select.
  3. Enter Learn Mode (Monitor)
    • Same Left + Right → add Up button combo.
  4. Confirmation
    • Screen will show: “RFID Programming Complete”.
  5. Exit Teach Mode & Reboot
    • Tap Down once.
    • Power cycle both devices to confirm functionality.

If linking fails, follow the reset process as described above and repeat the procedure.
