So after years of reliable service, you may notice your intake valve from TFT starts to develop some leaks. This is all due to normal wear and tear, and debris in the water possibly wearing down the seat over time. When that happens, it’s time to install at least a seat kit or a full seal kit.
This video walks through the different families of TFT intake valves and which kit may be appropriate, depending on the issue you’re trying to resolve.
This is the ABD Series valve — Alpha, Bravo, Delta. It has an integrated elbow. We have a complete kit for this valve: the ABD1520-CRK. That kit includes the valve seat, which seals against the ball, as well as two hose coupling gaskets for the truck-side female connection. Because this valve can have either a 5-inch or 6-inch coupling, both gasket sizes are included.
We also include the appropriate cup seals depending on the hose-side coupling. So, there’s a 4.25-inch cup seal and a 5.25-inch cup seal. Both may not be used depending on the setup, but the correct one will be there based on your valve configuration. There’s also a series of O-rings — a couple for seals inside the gearbox and one that seals the PRV to the valve body. Internal seals for the PRV are not included in this kit. Those are available individually or through other kits.
Additionally, we include a bit of our Maui Coat silicone assembly grease — a little goes a long way — and a small vial of blue Loctite for securing gearbox screws during reassembly.
Next, we move on to the AB Series. This valve is now discontinued, but we still offer repair parts and kits. The AB Series could have part number prefixes like AB, ABS, AC, or ACS. The ABS and ACS models have a swiveling elbow. The straight version would just be marked AB. You’ll find the part number on the tag at the top of the gearbox.
For this valve, we offer two kits. The first is the A1520-KIT, which includes the valve seat, 5- and 6-inch hose gaskets, silicone grease, and blue Loctite. If you’re not doing a full rebuild — just replacing a leaking valve seat — this kit is often all you need.
This same A1520-KIT can also be used on ABD valves if you’re just replacing the seat and not doing a full rebuild. Both use the same valve seat.
If you’re doing a complete rebuild on an AB Series valve, we recommend the A1520-CRK. This kit includes everything in the A1520-KIT, plus a 6-inch loaded cup seal that seals the swiveling elbow joint or the mating joint between the coupling and the valve body. It also includes O-rings to seal the PRV body to the valve body, as well as O-rings that seal the gearbox trunnion where it connects to the ball. Blue Loctite is included for reassembly since those components need to be retightened after servicing.
Now we move into the Jumbo Series valves. These have several different part number prefixes, such as AX, AP, AZ, AQ — these are standard Jumbo valves. They typically have a rounded or bulbous area where the ball swings out of the waterway. Some versions have no swiveling elbow; others do. As we continue, we also get into the Jumbo Low Profile series — these are the versions where the elbow comes out of the bottom and swings upward. Common prefixes here are AXD or AXE.
All of these fall into the Jumbo family and use the same repair kits. If you’re only replacing a leaking valve seat, we recommend the A1082-KIT. This includes a valve seat, 5- and 6-inch hose gaskets, and silicone assembly grease. These seats are not cross-compatible with other valve series, which is why separate kits are needed.
If you’re doing a full rebuild, use the A1082-CRK. It includes everything in the basic kit, plus a loaded cup seal for the elbow joint or mating joint (depending on your valve configuration), O-rings to seal the gearbox and PRV body to the valve body, and assembly grease and blue Loctite for fasteners.
None of these kits include the seals for the couplings where the actual coupling attaches to the valve. That’s because there are so many combinations and variations, and including all of them would add unnecessary parts and cost. But those seals are available individually if you need them. You can reach out to us with your valve details or refer to our valve schematics.
These kits also do not include any tools for seat ring removal or fastener extraction, but those tools are available separately.
So that’s an overview of the available TFT intake valve repair kits. For instructions on how to install them, please refer to our additional instructional videos or reach out if you need help identifying your valve or the right kit.
Your TFT intake valve is leaking. You don’t need a whole new valve. You just need the right repair kit. This page gives you:

Find the model tag on the gearbox or valve body. You’re looking for a part number prefix like:
Prefix Example | Series Name | Visual Clue |
---|---|---|
AB, ABS, ABD, AC, ACS | AB Series (legacy) | May have swiveling or straight elbow |
AX, AP, AZ, AQ | Jumbo Series | Bulbous body with or without elbow |
AXD, AXE, AZD, AZE | Jumbo Low Profile | Elbow exits downward, loops up |
Can’t find the tag? Snap a photo and contact us — we’ll ID it for you.
Use this kit if the valve shuts off but water seeps through.
Valve Prefix | Kit | Fixes | Includes |
---|---|---|---|
AB, ABS, AC, ACS | Gearbox or swivel leaks | All parts in -KIT + O-rings, cup seals, bearing strips | |
AX, AP, AZ, AQ, AXD, AXE, AZD, AZE | Gearbox or swivel leaks | All parts in -KIT + O-rings, cup seals, bearing strips | |
All ABD NewForce Series Valves | Gearbox or swivel leaks | This kit includes the hose side connection seals - no need to order additionally |
Note: Typically a complete rebuild will consist of one of the appropriate -CRK kits and the seals and bearing strips associated with the correct Hose Side Connection.
Use these if:
If your intake valve uses a swiveling elbow or large-diameter hose connection (LDH), you may need extra seals to fully stop leaks.
These are not included in the standard -KIT or -CRK repair kits and must be selected separately based on your hose connection type.
