Which Pressure Relief Valve Kit Do You Need? Rebuild Options for TFT PRVs

Hi guys. In this video I want to talk about the couple, pressure relief valve rebuild kits that we have available. We have two options here that we’re going to look at. On my left is the PRV dash kit pressure relief valve, dash kit. And on my right is the PRV dash g dash kit. Now, in this case, the G in the kit.

In the case for a, pressure relief valve that has a galvanic isolator on it. We’ll talk about this one first. Standalone pressure relief valves that have this galvanic isolator. If memory serves, we added these to the pressure relief valves in late 2020. So the prv g kit is specific to those. And again, these will be standalone.

They will be mounted to a TFT product. This is one that may be mounted on some plumbing or the the pump within your apparatus. This kit includes a new galvanic isolator, as well as internal seals and a seat, as well as some assembly grease and, blue loctite for some reassembly of some parts within the unit.

So that’s the PRV that we get. Again, these are on standalone valves that were manufactured around late 2020. Now, if we look at the PRV kit, this kit will fit any of the TFT pressure relief valves that were manufactured after June of 2012. Includes the same parts as the G kit, with the exception of, it does not have the galvanic isolator, internal seals and some O-rings, as well as a seat and some Maui Cold assembly grease.

Now, as I mentioned, this is for any pressure relief valve we manufacture after June of 2012. Pressure relief valves prior to 2012, we do not have a rebuild kit for. And if they require we build an assembly and be a complete replacement of the pressure relief valve in determining the, date of your valve.

On a standalone pressure relief valve, you’ll find a barcode label, which is the serial number. You can search the serial number on our website to get the manufacture date. If this pressure relief valve is mounted to a TFT device, such as an intake valve or something of a sort, there will be no barcode label. The serial number track ability is based on the serial number of the overall product, so you would run the serial number of the inside the intake valve to find the Magnus and date.

However, if you wanted to make a video, a visual references to prior to or after June of 2012, you’ll notice on this pressure relief valve the size of the discharge hole here. This was manufactured after June 2012, and it’s a current pressure relief valve. You’ll notice on this one the the diameter of the hole in the casting is larger.

This is one that was manufactured prior to June of 2012. We don’t have a rebuild kit for, One thing I would point out, as you prepare to order your rebuild kit, if you have the opportunity to unbolt the pressure relief valve from the device that it’s on, and inspect the casting where the sealing takes place down at the seat, just to ensure there’s no corrosion in the casting of the pressure relief valve, which would prevent the new suit from sealing.

If you do notice that that, area in the valve is corroded, then it’s probably best to replace the press release valve as opposed to attempt to, reseal it. If you have any questions outside of these seats or these kits, certainly reach out to us at tft.com. Yeah.

What This Page Is

Your TFT pressure relief valve (PRV) is leaking or not holding pressure. You don’t need a full replacement—just the right rebuild kit. This page gives you:

– The part number for your PRV rebuild kit
– Visual and date-based ID tips
– Kit contents and what’s included
– A direct path to purchase the correct kit

No form. No guesswork. No delay. Everything’s here

TFT offers two rebuild kits for pressure relief valves: the PRV-KIT and the PRV-G-KIT. The PRV-KIT is compatible with most valves made after June 2012. The PRV-G-KIT is specifically for valves that include a galvanic isolator, which became common in late 2020. If your PRV is part of a standalone assembly and has a metal ring separating it from the mounting flange, you likely have the galvanic isolator and need the PRV-G-KIT.

To determine if your PRV can be rebuilt, look at the serial number label or etched barcode. You can enter this information on tft.com to find the manufacturing date. Valves made before June 2012 generally have a larger discharge port and are not compatible with rebuild kits. If your valve is built into a larger assembly like an intake valve, use the serial number from that main component to check its production date.

If your valve was made after June 2012 and does not have a galvanic isolator, use the PRV-KIT. This kit includes all the internal components needed for standard maintenance: seals, O-rings, seat, grease, and Loctite. If your valve includes a galvanic isolator, choose the PRV-G-KIT, which includes all the same components plus a replacement isolator ring.

Yes. Before rebuilding, it's best to remove the valve and check the internal casting around the seat cavity. If there is visible corrosion or pitting, especially on the sealing surface, a rebuild may not fully restore the valve. In such cases, replacing the entire valve is often the better long-term solution.

If you’re unsure about your valve type or build date, take a photo of the PRV or its serial number label and contact TFT support through the website. Our team can help you identify the correct rebuild kit quickly and ensure you're getting the right parts for the job.
