Proper maintenance of your air decontamination units is key to keeping your fire apparatus and station air clean. This guide outlines basic steps to replace filters, wipe down components, and ensure the system stays operational over time.

Maintenance Overview by Model

CrewProtect

  • Cartridge Replacement:
    1. Loosen the four thumb screws and remove the cover.
    2. Place the new cartridge inside:
      • Printed side facing out
      • RFID sensor bottom left
    3. Reattach the cover.

CrewProtect Mini

  • Cartridge Replacement:
    1. Press the two side tabs to release the cartridge.
    2. Discard old cartridge (can be thrown away).
    3. Insert the new cartridge with the RFID side down until it clicks.
    4. Turn the unit on—blue light confirms successful install.

StationProtect

  • Molecular Cartridges: Replace once per year.
    • Open the front panel and remove four cartridges.
    • Slide new ones into place.
  • HEPA Filter: Replace annually (same panel).
  • Pre-Filter: Replace every 3 months, arrow facing up.

Cleaning and Upkeep

  • CrewProtect:
    • Wipe down exterior when you clean cab surfaces.
    • Clean the fan blades a few times per year—best done during cartridge changes.
  • StationProtect:
    • Wipe aluminum shell down regularly.
    • Unit runs on standard power and sits on caster wheels for mobility.
    • Use a surge protector to prevent power damage.
