Doug started in the fire service as a “gopher” at age 6 at his local volunteer fire department where his dad was a member for many decades. Doug soaked up everything he could about the fire service, including learning a few swear words. Doug officially joined the department in the mid ‘70’s, right out of high school, working up the ranks from Firefighter to a Chief officer’s position. Doug was awarded Life Membership after 25 years of active service, and still serves today as an active board member and one of the “old guys”. “There is nothing more gratifying than helping those who are having the worst day of their lives” he says with a smile.
His 30+ years as an integral part of TFT’s sales and marketing team allows him to use his experience from his roles in the fire service and Task Force Tips to perform market analyses and implementation of strategic pricing policies to support the Domestic and International teams and their sales partners.
Doug’s certifications as NFPA Instructor II/III, Fire Officer I/II, National Foam Factory Instructor and stints as chairperson and instructor for the Duneland School of Emergency Response (a large, regional training program) have made him the go-to-guy for firefighters and TFT customer alike. Doug served as the chairman of the FAMA (Fire Apparatus Manufacturer’s Association) Pump and Plumbing subcommittee and co-chair of that organization’s Technical Committee, and has served on several NFPA Standards Task Groups.
